World’s largest curry!

On Saturday 23 February 2008, BNC Projects and uShaka Marine World are going to join forces in attempt to break a Guinness world record. The project? To cook the BIGGEST curry the world has even seen.

The current record of 10.3 tonnes was made in Litchfield, UK. The Guinness Book of World Records has given approval for a shot at making an 18 tonne curry.

This project also has a cause (besides cooking up a storm) - of the 60 000 meals that the curry will make, 20 000 will be distributed to charity and the other 40 000 sold.

Curry experts Asha Maharaj and Shiela Somers have been called in to ensure that scale of food being made will not have a negative impact on the quality of the product. The initial trials and tastings have already been done and the estimated time required to cook the 18 tonne curry is three hours, and the excess oil from the cooking process will amount to approximately 800 Litres.

The Harley Davison club also will be driving through the streets of Durban handing out the food to children that live on the street and other homeless people.

The entire event will take place at uShaka Marine World at the end of Durban’s Golden Mile. This fully equipped aquarium and theme park is complete with slides, amusement parks, touch pools and dolphin shows.
