51 years on and the ChemSpec Airshow in Durban is still “flying”. Can you believe it, after the Farnborough Airshow in the UK, the Virginia Airshow is the second longest running show in the world!

Every year thousands of people flock to the Virginia Airport to enjoy thrilling and exhilarating displays by all those “magnificent men in their flying machines”. In 2007 there were 80 first-class acts and 200 machines!

Book your tickets online ( www.durbanairshow.co.za ), it’ll save you a lot of time, there’s a special entrance queue at the main entrance if you’ve bought tickets online. Alternatively you can buy tickets from the Pilots Shop at the Virginia Airport Terminal Building.

Getting There

To get to the airport you’re advised to use the Broadway off-ramp off the M4, carry on along Fairway in a northerly direction. At Rotary you can make use of the park and ride facility. Fairway will be open for one way traffic as far as the park and ride facility at Beachwood golf course. On Saturday and Sunday the road will be closed from 7am. On the northern side of the airfield the Ypsilanti entrance will also be open.
