This year, Durban will be hosting the eighth Southern African AIDS Conference at the International Convention Centre. The second largest HIV conference in the world, it is one of the most prominent medical meetings in Southern Africa. It is set to be attended by over 3 000 people.
Delegates include highly respected scientists and medical practitioners, as well as representatives from the public sector, NGO and faith-based sectors and the corporate sector. And with more than 25% of the delegates coming from countries other than South Africa, the conference is likely to draw its fair share of media coverage too.
Southern Africa is in its strongest position yet when it comes to the controlling of the AIDS epidemic. However, there are many major gaps that still need to be addressed and plugged. The 8th Southern African Conference will provide a platform to highlight the latest advances in basic sciences while emphasising how to create lasting change to prevent new infections.
Registration is now open, so don’t miss this opportunity to make your voice heard as part of the effort to take control of the epidemic. Running from Tuesday 13 June – Thursday 15 June, you’ll enjoy 3 full days of intense workshops, track sessions and symposia from 7:30 – 5:00 daily.
